We were in San Francisco for the first time in November 2016. The adventure began thanks to Simone Ravaioli from Postrivoro di Faenza who invited us to follow him to document their experience at the Airbnb HQ in California. We enthusiastically accepted the idea of being able to visit a big city and be able to live this experience. Me, videomaker, and Filippo, photographer, arrived in San Francisco at night and went to base on Mission street, one of the main streets of the Californian city. A quick tacos in one of the many Mexican restaurants and off to bed. The following days were thrilling. We finally entered the Airbnb HQ: amazing, as an American friend of mine would say! The offices were built taking inspiration from the best apartments on the international platform. There are caravans, sofas, cottages, in short, room for imagination. On the ground floor there is a central kitchen that churns out dishes every hour for its employees. We also managed to visit the city, we don’t always have enough time, but this time we did well! We took the historic San Francisco bus, saw the pier, filled with lazily sunbathing seals alongside traditional crab-based restaurants. Every night we tested a different Asian restaurant: Koerean, Chinese, Japanese restaurants and even the famous Chinese restaurant on Mission street. Needless to say, we at Cinefood are gourmets and foodies and certainly couldn’t miss the American brunch! A real treat! We recommend taking it from We loved the one proposed by Bloom. The last day of our stay coincided with the dinner for which we were involved. It was a wonderful experience, a special dinner which was attended by many people of different professions and nationalities. Every detail had been taken care of: the setting was designed by a team of Italian architects and the kitchen was handled by two chefs: August Lill (Swedish) and Semi Hakim (Turkish). Both very good and super curious. With Hakim we had been the day before inside the food market in San Francisco. A market located on the city’s pier, where you can find both fresh products such as vegetables, fruit ect .. but also cooked products such as porchetta, oysters and hamburgers. San Francisco is a fascinating city, incredible with a thousand lights and ready to welcome you with bursting architecture and a varied and interesting gastronomy. Definitely a city that we recommend to visit!
